Secondary students who arrive in Australia to study have many adjustments to make. For most students the Australian Education system will be different from what they have known at home. Classroom organisation and teaching methods take some getting used to. Then there is the language barrier and so many cultural differences. Managing all of these new experiences and studying successfully at the same time is a big challenge.

Feeling Homesick

All students who come to Australia to study will feel homesick at some stage. For some students feeling homesick really effects their studies, their sleep and in severe cases it can cause nausea and headaches. For other students there may be days when they feel tired, sad and unmotivated. Everyone reacts differently to being away from friends, family and familiar surroundings.
